Merrill is Merrill, she's still his friend and still apart of the group there's no doubt about that, but she's remembering things that never happened. Anders is seemingly from the future, and he's not entirely sure what Varric does and doesn't know.
Are things different for all of them or is it just Merrill? And if it is why only her? Magic possibly but what kind? No magic can fabricate things that never happened, and what would be the point of doing it to Merrill of all people.
