5th Duel [Video]

[When the video first starts it's a shot of Hawke laughing. It quickly switches to Thunderbutt lying on the floor, whining and clearly having no idea what to do while a pack of energetic puppies climb, bite, and bark at their newest playmate.]

Some war-dog you are! Maybe I should take them with me next time I get into a fight.

[Thunderbutt growls and barks at Hawke. Someone has obviously been offended.]

[The sounds really should be enough of a hint for Vie to run in the other direction, but curiosity has the best of her. Ever so carefully and quietly, the Valei woman creeps toward where Hawke, the Mabari and the puppies are.

She manages not to yell, but she does suck in a gasp. That Mabari is huge.]

[Even if Hawke never heard her, Thunderbutt is another story entirely. His ears perk up and he looks in Vie's direction. Hawke follows his dog's gaze and spots her as well. The grin he gives her clearly means he's up to no good.]

I knew you'd want to meet him eventually. Go say hello boy!

[Thunderbutt barks eagerly and his tiny tail begins wagging furiously. He jumps to his feet, sending puppies scattering across the kennels, and charges towards Vie. The puppies give chase, not even bothered by the larger dog barreling through them. yapping happily and eager to play.]

Hawke no-- No!

[With a yelp, Vie takes off running, eager to get as far away from the creature as she can. Frantically she searches for something to climb. Mabari can't climb, can they? Why is there nothing to climb??]

But he just wants to say hello!

[And Hawke doubles over laughing while Thunderbutt chases after her and the pups chase after him.]

[She spies a table and leaps for it, knowing all too well that the dog could follow but half hoping that something between them might help her escape, or at least hold it off.]

It's not funny! Get in here and he--

[The Mabari is way too close for comfort. Vie damn near shrieks.]

Hawke!

[He could but he doesn't. Instead he just sets his front paws on the table and barks in excitement. The puppies gather around his hind legs and yap with him.]

I think he likes you Vie.

[She might think he's being a dick and well, he is, but he's also keeping a careful eye on both her and Thunderbutt. If things get out of hand he'll be ready to call Thunderbutt back.]

Yes. Good. Lovely. Please make him go away...

[That last line is joined with Vie's pleading puppy face. Can you say no to that face, Hawke? She's got a pretty tight grip on the book in her hands, knuckles white from clinging too hard.

Vie takes a deep breath and tries to relax. At least Thunderbutt didn't come up with her. The yapping puppies do not help her calm.]

[Oh please, she's got nothing on Merrill's puppy face but Hawke relents nonetheless. He whistles sharply and Thunderbutt trots back to him but not before giving Vie a pout. Of course the puppies swarm after their new mentor.]

You keep breaking his heart like that and he'll never want to play with you.
