9th Duel [Open Commentlog]
[Hawke's been quiet for a while now. Anyone who knows him should know just how odd that is in and of itself. He sits in the stables bar sipping at a bottle of...something. He wasn't really paying to what it was when he grabbed it. All he knew was that he wanted something alcoholic.
What a monumental fuck he is. Nearly every one of his friends died during that whole mess and he did nothing to stop it. He was entirely useless. Just like with Carver. Just like with mother. In fact the only one who survived was Vie and that wasn't even because of him. She just got stuck in quarantine before she could get out. For being a Champion, he can never seem to save the people he actually wants to save.]

Garrett.

You found me. Now it's your turn to hide.
no subject
Perhaps a drink first. Mind if I sit?
no subject
A drink always comes first.
[Hawke reaches out and pulls the seat out for her.]
no subject
Are you alright?
[Straight to the point.]
no subject
When am I not alright?
[Really Vie does this look like a man with a problem? You know what, don't answer that.]
no subject
How about when you're sitting alone with a drink in your hand.

He's pleasantly surprised to find someone to talk to as he arrives.]
Hello.
no subject
You know, I don't think another man has given me a plain, simple greeting in years. It's always "please do this for me" or "find this for me" or "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU".
This is a nice change actually.

[He laughs a bit as he turns to look at the bar.]
So this is the poor neglected bar I've heard about, hm?
no subject
[Hawke takes another swig from his drink and looks back at the bar.]
I wouldn't call it neglected. There's always someone happily willing to take its alcohol.
[Like him for instance.]
no subject
But no one's tending it. There's the neglect.
[He makes his way behind the bar and begins to inspect bottles.]
Anything noteworthy you've found?
no subject
[Hawke lifts the bottle in his hand.]
Not sure what his name is or where he's from but he's definitely a lot of fun.

[He'd just gone for a walk. Something to clear his head. He didn't expect to run into Hawke.]
... Drinking alone?
no subject
Is it really that surprising? What else do you think I do at my house?
[Hawke smirks and takes a sip from his bottle.]
no subject
[He stops a few feet away, leaning slightly on his staff.]
Play fetch with your mabari, or fend off mobs begging for you to find their lost such-and-such.
no subject
Sandal and Aveline give that dog more a workout than I ever could, and you learn to tune out the mobs eventually. This here is me-time.
[Although he's making no effort to shoo Anders away.]
no subject
Well. I... suppose I could leave you to that you-time.
[Since he assumes that's what Hawke is getting at.]

[You're looking mighty broody there, Hawke.]
no subject
Are you joking? Fenris has that market cornered. I wouldn't stand a chance.
[Next time he needs to find a better hiding spot. Maybe the dog kennel again.]
no subject
[Yeah, the only tavern at the keep probably isn't the best hiding spot ever.]
no subject
[He'll pick better next time don't worry.]
no subject
[There's a pause, while he takes another drink.]
You're not doing anything stupid like blaming yourself, are you?
no subject
Oh you know how we hero types are. We always blame ourselves for things.
[Totally taking this seriously. Yup.]
